Before you start making
Before you start making a piece of clothing, here is some basic knowledge you need to know. This is also the point where sewing beginners tend to get stuck, so make sure you know it well.
About cloth
DirectionThere are two directions of weave in cloth: parallel to the ears (the hard part at both ends) is the "vertical" direction, and perpendicular to the ears is the "horizontal" direction. The arrows on the drawing or pattern indicate that the fabric should be aligned with the vertical direction. The direction of 45 degrees diagonally to the vertical and horizontal is called "bias," and this is the angle at which bias tape is taken.
Front and back Cloth has a front and back. The "NakaOmote" in the instructions refers to cloth folded inside out, and the "Wa" refers to the folded part of the cloth that is created when it is folded in two.
