Wind god and Thunder god were found long ago in Buddhist art.
Wind gods are depicted on coins of the Kushan dynasty,
which flourished from the 1st to the 3rd century,
as well as the wall paintings in the Dunhuang Grottoes
and statues in Sanjusangen-do.
However, the best known of all is the
Wind God and Thunder God in the screen paintings by Tawaraya Sōtatsu.
Sōtatsu is the painter I respect the most
and is a treasure of Japan.
