“ほほえみ”

Hohoemi

ほほえみは笑いと違ってその人の本当の気持を表していると思う。
包み込まれるような大きなほほえみに出会ったら人はどんなに暖かい気持になるだろう。

Smile, being different laughing,
Shows the true feelings of a person.
Encounter with a radiant smile,
Bring you sunshine, and warm your heart.

“折り紙”

Origami

花はやさしく優美な形をしている。
でもこの花は折り紙を折って作った花にしたかった。
直線的で四角ばっていても花の持っているかわいさやエレガントさを感じてもらえればいいのですが……。

Flowers have a gentle and elegant shape.
I wanted to create a pattern with the motif of folded paper flowers,
With straight lines and square corners of the paper, While keep the gentleness and elegance of a fresh flower as well.

“朝顔”

Asagao

朝、花を開き夕方にはしぼんでいく朝顔。
ピンク、紫、ブルーなどが鮮やかな白と出会いいのちの花を咲かせる。
暑い夏の朝にさわやかな一日をプレゼントしてくれる。

I see morning glories blossom in the morning, white and full of pride.
With crowns in pink, purple, blue, around their green stem necks.
I see morning glories withering in the evening, dying in the setting sun.
They burn their one-day life, to send us a summer gift, a 24-hour refreshing time.

“天竺牡丹”

Tenjikubotan

ピンク、赤、紅、紫、黄、オレンジなどの色が鮮か。つやのある花弁が競うように重なりあって花が輝いている。
天竺牡丹（ダリア）は西洋的でもあり東洋的でもありエキゾチックで情熱的な魅力をたたえている。

Pink, red, crimson, violet, yellow, and orange: Bright flowers are in full blossom with vivid performances.
Dahlias, dahlias, Exotic and passionate. They have an irresistible charm, harmonized the western and eastern moods.

“南蛮模様”

Nanban Moyo

単純な花の形のビスケットを並べて描いていく。
次に四角いビスケットを並べていく、そして小さめの花のビスケットを…。
遠い異国から来たお菓子をモチーフに南蛮風の模様を試みた。

I draw some biscuits, with simple flower-shaped, arrange them in a line.
Then line up some square ones, and then some smaller flower-shaped ones…
I created this exotic pattern, with the motif of sweets came all the long way from overseas.

“ひなたぼっこ”

Hinatabokko

冬の晴れた日差しの暖かい日に縁側やベランダに出てぼんやりと陽にあたっているのは実に気持がいい。
人生にはいろいろなしあわせを感じる瞬間がある。ひなたぼっこは欲とか得とかをはなれたとてもしあわせな時間だと思う。

A warm and sunny winter afternoon Lounging about in the bundant sunshine. How snug and cosy it is!
There are few moments of pure happiness in life. Far from lust and benefit, I feel pleased and content.

“都の春”

Miyakonoharu

京都に住んでいていいなあと思うことはたくさんある。でもそれを並べて立てていっても説明しきれない何かが残る。
きっとそれは、千年の間都だったことからくるものだろう。
都の春（お正月）は街の飾りも歴史を感じる趣向がこらされいっそう雅なひとときを迎える。

On many accounts I enjoy living in Kyoto.
But even if I list all of these accounts, there is still something I couldn’t explain.
This something, comes from the thousand years of history of the old capital.
Have you ever seen the historical decorations during the spring in Kyoto?
You might greet the most graceful New Year in this ancient yet elegant Kyoto.

“立冬”

Rittou

陽の光が弱くなり朝夕の風が冷たく感じられ冬の気配がただよい始めるこの季節。
お茶の世界では炉開きが行われる。
春から秋にかけて使われていた風炉にかわり、炉を開き釜をたく。
炉が切られた茶室は壁の侘助とともに緊張感のある美しさにみちている。
これから冬に向かう心おどる立冬のころ。

The wind is getting chilly in mornings and evenings,There are many little signs of winter around there and here in this time.In Japanese tea ceremony, we have an event "ro-biraki". Instead of "furo", a portable brazier which we use from spring to autumn,
we start to use a fire pit build in the floor, called "ro" and boil the water in "kama", Japanese kettle.
There are filled with tense beauty in a Japanese tea room with ro and a flower named "wabisuke" hanging on the wall.Ritto is the time we are excited for heading into winter.

“稲妻”

Inazuma

ピカッと光りゴロゴロとおそろしい音が鳴りひびく。又ピカッと稲妻が走る。
真白な電光が空を切り裂いて地上に突きささる。恐ろしくもあるが神聖さも感じる。
神社でお祓いをするための紙幣は稲妻を形どったという説もあるようだ。

Bckkkkkk! Lightening splits the sky, cracking the horizon like.
Bckkkk! White strings of energy, stabbing into the ground.
It is frightening but sacred, Some say that that is why a zigzag-shaped paper streamer often used in a purification ceremony at a Shinto shrine.

“重ね菱”

Kasanebishi

日本の家紋はビシッと決っていてクール。
菱形を3つ重ねて家紋のようにしそれを並べて模様にした。
これだけで江戸時代のさむらいのふんいきがただよってくるようだ。
武田信玄の家紋も菱形で構成されている。

Kamon, Japanese family crests are smartly designed and stylish.
I arranged three diamonds like a traditional crest, and placed them to make a pattern.
It’s quite simple, but liven up a mood of samurai in Edo period.
By the way, the kamon of Takeda Shingen is also composed of diamonds.
