"Tea Rooms: These and That (81)"
Today is Sunday! This is the corner featuring Terada Yu, the sheltered daughter of a sukiya-style carpenter family!
The other day, a friend asked me what kind of tools I need to start (get familiar with) tea ceremony. I was about to say that anything would be fine, but then I realized that that was a rather unhelpful answer, so I'd like to clarify it again.
⚫︎Tools necessary for tea ⚫︎
[Rice bowl]
Anything you like is fine. It would be great if you could get something with a pattern, size, texture, etc. that you like.
[Tea Scoop scoop]
It's good to have one, but it's not necessary; any spoon that can be used to scoop up matcha will do.
[Tea Whisk whisk)]
I guess I need this after all. Prices vary widely, but if you don't mind, you can get it at a reasonable price.
【Matcha】
This is a must! There are many tea shops in Kyoto, but even if they are not famous, there are many delicious teas.
Please come and find your favorite tea!

Having said all this, I would like to mention that SOU・SOU also has these items.

Set includes everything you need to enjoy tea casually, and is called "Ippuku Bowl".
In addition to the tea bowl, the product includes utensils and tea.
If you get too particular from the start, you'll either get tired or satisfied by the time you have all the tools, so I recommend easy-to-use items for everyday use.
The "Ippuku Bowl" is Set in a nondescript box.
I have a feeling I'll just leave this in the box and put it away, since I'm the type who easily gets bored of things.

\Arranged like this/
The "SOU・SOU Tea Box Set" is completed using items found at SOU・SOU.
[A tea box is Set of tea ceremony Tea Ceremony Utensils that contains all Tea Ceremony Utensils. It is portable, so you can easily enjoy tea outdoors!]
I continued pasting Isemomen Cotton Handkerchief fabric onto the box for about an hour, maybe two hours.
"I'd love to make it, but I'm clumsy so I can't do it!"
If you are one of those people,
Even though I am self-proclaimed clumsy, I managed to make it, so I think you can make it as long as you have the will!
To tell you the truth, of course I got tired of it along the way, but my dream of making a cute tea box kept me going.
It was so much fun just choosing my favorite Textile, so I made it on impulse!
The clothes for putting tea bowls are "Omusubi Pouch" is a perfect fit!
[A shibuku is a bag for carrying tea utensils such as tea caddies and tea bowls. It can be sewn by hand or made from special old fabric.]

There are some rough parts that I'd recommend squint your eyes when looking at them, but I managed to make it look similar!
Personally, I think that when it comes to enjoying tea on a daily basis, you can do whatever you like without worrying about etiquette.
No one can teach you the correct way to make coffee, but I was interested, so I tried it and wanted to get the equipment too!
I want to make it taste even better!
I would like tea to have that same feeling.
First of all, when spring comes, I'm thinking of taking this Ippuku tea box outside and taking a break.
Please give it a try and shake it to make your own delicious tea!
Would you like to take a break with us?

SOU・SOU Diary /Staff's Diaries
"Wakayama Travel Journal / Saruwatari Tsuguumi"
Last month, my family of four went on a trip.
Our destination is Wakayama.
When we go on family trips we usually go to places my mom and dad want to go, and this time we went to Yuasa in search of delicious food.
It is said that modern Japanese soy sauce originated from "Kinzanji miso," which was brought to Japan by a monk who trained in Song Dynasty China during the Kamakura Era.
This is the birthplace of soy sauce brewing, so the Saruwatari family, who love strong flavors, head there.
Attracted by a sign reading "Soy Sauce Museum," I went inside to find an array of tools used in soy sauce brewing.
There are some familiar characters and explanations of how they are used, which gives you a sense of history.
The townscape of Yuasa is a traditional buildings preservation district, and the old-fashioned buildings are very beautiful, but...
We also visited a local museum which displays valuable old tools collected by local residents who actually live in this town.
Among them all, my eye was drawn to this cotton gin.
It's fun just to imagine how it works.
I was happy to be able to talk to the museum staff while thinking about the old tools with my family.
On the second day, we headed towards Minabe in search of Kishu Nankou plums.
It was a refreshing sight to see local plum farmers selling their prized plums on their doorsteps.
There were a lot of people so I couldn't take any photos, but my brother, me and my mother were eating pickled plums while taking a rest on the slope of the mountain.(My brow is wrinkly because of the sour taste...)
It was quite a climb, but both my mother and I made it to the top wearing Tabi Shoes and Fuji Pants style walking gear.
Although it was a little early for Hanami, we were able to get some delicious pickled plums, making it a great trip.

It's been a while since I've seen "Tea Room Here and There" (^^) I've been waiting for it ♪
I see, it's a cute "SOU・SOU tea box Set" ♪ Just looking at it makes me feel blissful (^^)
If I could arrange my tea box beautifully, I think I would be satisfied with that tooʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ
But, as Yu says,
I guess the important thing is to "enjoy a cup of tea"!
But for now, I think a "drink" is better for me... m(_ _)m

Thank you for your comment.
It's nice to arrange the surrounding utensils for a single cup of sake, and it can be fun to start paying attention to things like sake cups!
When you do, be sure to buy Sasaki Sake Brewery 's Jurakudai at SOU・SOU!
It's been a while since I last visited the tea room (^^)
Handicrafts are wonderful. I couldn't help but wonder if there was a small tea caddy that was used daily.
"Nobody teaches you the correct way to brew coffee, but I was interested, so I tried it and now I want to get the tools!"
↑This is it!! Just like coffee, I would like to enjoy tea even if I don't know the orthodox (?) way.
I bought the bowl, but I didn't get around to buying the matcha or Tea Whisk. I think I'll take this opportunity to try them out!
Oh... Tea Can Tea Whisk Set is Out of stock (^^;)
