SOU・SOU Diary /Staff's Diaries
"I went to the production site. / Yumi Mizokawa"
I've had the opportunity to visit a number of places recently for photo shoots, so I'd like to share a few with you.
One is the currently available "Spring Collection" From Pre-order.
The only brewery in Rakuchu
We had the opportunity to visit the sake brewery Sasaki Sake Brewery.
The Fushimi area of Kyoto is famous for its sake breweries, but Sasaki Sake Brewery is located in Nishijin, right in the center of the city.
Rakuchu refers to the center of Kyoto city, generally speaking the area inside Higashioji, Nishioji, Kitaoji, and Kujo-dori.
By the way, it's surprisingly located in a residential area of the city.
As soon as you step inside the brewery, you're enveloped in that aroma and surrounded by barrels of fermenting sake. It's a truly mysterious atmosphere.
The craftsmen worked in perfect harmony.
The attached shop was crowded with many customers on the weekend. The brewery tours are being held until March, so be sure to Check it out.
"The reason we're the only one remaining in Rakuchu is because we didn't stop brewing here."
These are the words of President Sasaki. He taught us that what sounds easy is not always easy.
President Sasaki kindly agreed to our requests regarding the shoot. Thank you very much.
The other one is outside of Kyoto and heads to Nara.
The company manufactures Tabi Socks for SOU・SOU
To Kuwa Meriyasu Co., Ltd.

Founded in 1953, the company produces a wide variety of socks in Nara Prefecture, the number one sock production area in Japan, with many partner factories.

In addition to directly interacting with SOU・SOU, they also handle the shipping of Tabi Socks. On this day, a large number Tabi Socks were being loaded onto trucks and were being shipped out.

And
We also had the opportunity to visit our partner factory, Segawa Textile.

Rows of Weave machines are lined up, non-stop producing Tabi Socks.

The skill shines in the fingertips, which are hand-sewn.

We were shown the entire process, from weaving Tabi Socks to shipping them as finished products, over a period of time.
No matter how big or small the work may be, it is all equally important, and I was reminded that it takes many more people than I had imagined to make something.
They were very friendly and talked to me about a lot of things. Thank you for taking the time out of your work to talk to me!
It's nice to just look at the finished "thing," but people are drawn to what lies behind it.
Although my job is not to create anything, I would like to work hard every day to communicate more and more about the great things about SOU・SOU products, which are made with the involvement of many people.
We would be delighted if SOU・SOU could be a catalyst for you to learn about things such as manufacturing, Japanese Kimono, and Kyoto.
We are Tabi Socks working on creating a YouTube video of the Tabishita factory tour and other short videos! By the way, we are also planning to release a video of the president of Sasaki Sake Brewery.
Everyone, please look forward to it!
