SOU・SOU Diary /Staff's Diaries
“Natsugoe Tenjin / Mami Koyama”
On June 25th, I went to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine to purify Nagoshi.
this day is,
・Birthday of Michizane Sugawara
・Tenjin-san's Fair
・Last day of opening of Ao-momiji
・The first day of Omaya-no-Wakuguri
And on a day full of events, a huge crowd from the entrance (first torii)...
The street leading up to the Romon Gate was lined with stalls and was filled with worshipers.
There is a large chinowa ring at the gate! !
With a diameter of 5m, it is the largest chinowa in Kyoto.
It seems that the priests go to cut the thatch themselves and finish it all by hand.
In the old days, it was customary to pull out the thatch from the 'Ochinowa' to ward off evil and bring it home, but now it is said that 'taking back the thatch that a person passed through would bring the impurity with them'. It is sold.
I also got a chinowa mamori.
A delicate face in the heat.
A small ring of chinowa was also set up in front of the main shrine, and people were lining up to pass through the ring of chinowa.
I will also pass through according to the etiquette.
Mr. Aratake of netshop introduces the etiquette of Chinowa Kuguri in this silly story. →Fold the hem into third and sew (or roll the hem and sew)
(There was a year when Chinowa was installed before SOU・SOU.)
By the way, I was wearing Yousou. on this day.
Worn items
・Chizimi Cotton 40/40 Wide Sleeve Boat Neck Tunic / Dark Lead Color Women's F Size
・Chizimi Cotton 40/40 Wide Pants 2.0 / Dark Lead Color M size
・【net limited】Montpellier / SO-SU-U Light Ink Grey
・ Grained Leather Shoulder Bag Odayaka Small / Black
I was worried that the combination of Tunic and Wide Pants would make me look like I was wearing pajamas, but
Kiyomi, the project manager, told me that "the key is to use accessories," so I used a necklace, which I don't usually wear, as the focal point, and added a leather Origami Shoulder Bag, and it worked out.
With the cool feeling of minus 2°C from Chizimi Cotton and the breeze passing through Wide Sleeve, it looks like you'll be able to survive the Kyoto summer!
Today, June 30th, is the day when the "O-Natsugoi no Harae" (purification of summer solstice) event will be held in various places, so Up and Down go dressed in formal attire?

The chinowa of "Natsukoshi no Harae" is also set up every year at "Omiwa Shrine" near where I live. There are "three", so it's a bit confusing to pass through... ^^;
OR beckoning cat
thank you for your comment!
It's the first time I've heard of 3 chinowa! The power of exorcism seems to be even stronger!
I would love to visit someday. Thank you for the interesting information♪
