One day story / Small talks from SOU · SOU Producer Takeshi Wakabayashi
"Fourteenth episode / Life in NY"
In NY, I attached a private tutor. Because I could not speak English at all.
I learned English to Mr. Hashimoto at night in the morning for an American teacher from 8 o'clock.
English does not care about grammar and pronunciation.
I felt it important to talk anyway without doing anything wrong.
In fact, there are many people in the United States who haven't gone to school, and many who can't write.
In NY, which is said to be a melting pot of races, Spanish, Chinese, etc.
There were many people who couldn't hear the English pronunciation at all.
I think it is a characteristic of Japanese people to stick to native English.
Basically, I went to work at Mr. Hashimoto's office every morning. I also helped with a little work.
I didn't want to be sloppy at home.
(Hashimoto's helped me in NY. Broadcloth at the office in the way.)
I walked around Manhattan from noon.
I visited Foot Locker, GAP, Barneys, Fifth Avenue and Others famous shops.
I went to the flea market from morning on Sunday.
I enjoyed having lots of vintage bargains.
One day, I wanted to go to various places more efficiently, so I bought a bicycle.
After the payment is completed, the clerk is inflating the tires, but the front wheels are not inflated at all.
Apparently it's a flat tire.
However, it is said that puncture repair is not possible at this store.
I couldn't help it, so I asked him to tell me which store could repair it, and I lifted the front wheel a little and pushed it while walking.
And I reached the shop, but I was told that I can not repair. why?
After all, I searched for a bicycle shop that could repair it for about 3 hours while it was snowing.
I finally found it and had it fixed, and finally I rode my bicycle back to the office building.
To stop the bicycle in a utility pole in the ultra-thick chain Round and Round the winding put the key in. This is NY! I thought.
When I returned to the office and told Mr. Hashimoto about the Sunrise,
He said, "Oh! Bicycle is dangerous! It will be stolen!"
In a hurry and going out, the bicycle was gone. The stubborn chain had been severed with the packing.
In the snow, I lifted the front wheel a little for 3 hours, pushed it, and walked for only 15 minutes.
I thought this was NY !!!!
