日本の四季や風情をポップに表現したテキスタイルデザインを製作する京都のブランド。
『新しい日本文化の創造』をコンセプトに、伝統的な素材や技法を積極的に用いながらも、現代のライフスタイルに寄り添うものづくりを展開。地下足袋や和服、和菓子や家具など、多岐にわたるアイテムを製作・販売。
また、様々な分野の企業とのコラボレーションによって、日本のテキスタイルデザインの可能性を広げている。

Founded in 2003 by Katsuji Wakisaka (Textile designer), Hisanobu Tsujimura (architect), Takeyuki Wakabayashi (producer), and others.

Based in Kyoto, Japan, SOU · SOU creates textile designs to depict seasonal beauty of nature with concept of "Creating New Japanese Culture".
While being pop and edgy, the brand is using skilled craftspeople and time-tested materials to decorate modern life.
SOU · SOU make and sell tabi shoes, kimono, wagashi, furniture, etc, and develop collaboration in a broad range of fields to broaden the possibility of Japanese textile design.

It was established in 2003 by Katsuji Wakisaka (Textile Designer), Hisanobu Tsujimura (Architect), and Takeshi Wakabayashi (Producer).

"Creating a new interpretation of Japanese culture based on Japanese tradition"

Japanese tend to recognize, validate, and develop each other by saying the word"Sou,sou", or "Yes,yes". Foreigners have told us, "We hear Japanese people say"sou sou"(yes yes) a lot in their conversations!" If you paying attention, you may hear this word everyday and everywhere in converstions all over Japan. We could even say that this simple dissyllabic word "SOU・SOU" has been an essential word for Japanese.
And we believe this word represents Japaneseness and and is a metonymy of Japan itself. We think it is important for us Japanese to create opportunities for this sort of introspection within everyday life like the word "SOU・SOU" that we inadverrently use in conversations.

We, Japanese, often say "sou sou" in conversations, which means "I agree with you" and "You're right". We confirm, discover and develop ideas each other, saying "sou sou" and we are creating human relations And building the society. When we listen to our talk carefully, we realize that the words are used by everyone, everyday, everywhere. Viewed in this way , The word "sou-sou", two in one word, has been essential for Japanese for a long time. And we feel that it shows "Japanese-like" or the "Japan" for its own sake. To give a chance for Japanese who just simply live to take a look at our country, Japan again and to get back the proud of being Japanese from now on.
